Rhys Tyack is a Director of Photography currently based in Meanjin/Brisbane, Australia. An avid cinebuff turned cinematographer. Gravitating towards underground oddities & obscenities of life to inform his artistic practise. Rhys structures his cinematography style to support the narrative through subtle subconscious means. This includes patterns, symbolism/semiotics & visual language to intensify themes. A music performance background has also informed his sense of rhythm & timing within camera operating. Independent films require more for less; with limited funds, resources & time. As a result, Rhys plans heavily in the pre-production stage as a cornerstone for on-set efficiency.
